A little over a week ago, I disconnected the battery in the Camryvan to clear a check engine light. Managed to pass emissions like that so I’m good to go for two years.
I just drove 900 miles straight and the light is still off, so I think my initial assumption was correct (there was an ECM upgrade that hasn’t been done yet on my van).
Hope you all are well. Watching Long Beach riots on tv, this is nuts.

Hello from Indianapolis. I just drove the opposite direction today for 250+ miles.
Enjoy your time in California. I hope to go there someday.

What a time to visit here haha. If it wasnt for the still raging corona virus youve got all of the riots. If only it were late fall, then everything would be on fire too. Just need an earthquake while in an In N Out to complete the California experience. Also, probably missing 99% of the usual traffic.

Wildest day in Long Beach since Takuma Sato last dove into Turn 1

I miss the good food I get on my trips to California but my employer has halted travel for the time being.

I’m definitely enjoying the food. We sort of have to travel, but I’m not getting on a plane for as long as I can avoid it.
I actually enjoy the drive because you really forget what’s going on in the world until you stop somewhere.

Hello back from someone t hat m isses traveling to California!
This is the longest I haven’t traveled for work for 4 years, it’s nice but I also miss it. I'm not even allowed to return to my office so they're definitely not putting me on a plane.

This is the longest I’ve been without flying somewhere since 2007.

That is tough! I barely traveled before my current job and it was hard adjusting to monthly travel but it did and ended up quite enjoying it. For me that was about the right rhythm several weeks at home in my bed but for a few days a month I get to go somewhere and not have to pay for it.

You said maybe Bay Area, didn’t you?

Do you know about Bluetooth OBDII adapters? They can clear codes and read codes and you don’t have to wait for the monitors to reset like you do disconnecting the battery.
This one’s twenty bucks:

You can get them WiFi, too. As well, they give you all kinds of other sensor measurements from the ECU.

I do - I’d had Advance read the code and decided to just try the battery trick for the short term. Once they’re doing full emissions I should be able to pass with the light on since it’s a programming issue but for now they aren’t actually testing exhaust output. I do plan on getting one just to make sure it’s the same code if the light comes back!

Wow. It seems flying would have been easier.
But as long as you are compensated well for your time, it’s worth it.

Definitely will do. Waiting on next step information after a round of interviews from one of the big tech companies. Their HR does not move fast though.
